Blake is 10

Holy cow, my youngest is now in double digits! Blake turned 10 years old! He's so tall, but is still wearing his size (10), so.... He is no longer blonde, at all, which is kind of sad. He might be my first kid that I'd try to influence to bleach his hair some day. He is loving school, especially math and P.E., and has Mr. Johnson as his teacher this year (4th grade). Blake just finished his last year playing flag football - and that's because he gets to play tackle football next year, and he cannot wait! He took up swimming this past summer, and did great on the Pleasant Grove swim team. Oh yay, and he had an awesome season in soccer too! He didn't love baseball too much this past Spring. We were all excited he finally got to be on a little league team, with real uniforms, real fields, etc.... But with that comes a real team with players he didn't know, and his team wasn't so hot, therefor he didn't love the experience too much. Blake loves his big brothers so much, and can't help but be influenced by the things they like and the things they do. For example, thanks to Parker, he loves listening to iTunes, is a 'pest' at times, and loves the Lakers (he has 4 Lakers shirts and a hoodie, thanks to Nana). And because of Landen, Blake likes to play the piano, loves to go in Landen's room and check out all his cool 'stuff', and 'boss' him around after getting a dose of it himself. It will be interesting to see if Blake takes up percussion in Jr. High (like both his brothers did), or if he chooses another instrument. He is a friend to all, and tells me when he has befriended someone alone at recess or asked a new kid to join in. He has a lot of friends, but loves to just hang out at home with his family unless someone calls him to play. He really is a sweet kid, and we're always telling him "you're the best" because he is so helpful and willing and charming. (I can say that, he's MY kid, and I'm a proud mom!). He does have his impatient side at times, and can be incessant at asking over and over even when the answer is 'no'. But I love his determination, and he will be a great adult too! Something he said the other day made me so sad - I had been asking him every day to make a birthday list of things he wanted for his birthday, and he still hadn't provided one. So I finally said he had to do it, and he told me "I'm just not a toy kind of guy". Heart sinking moment :( But it's kind of true. He has never embraced Legos the way his brothers did, nor does he 'want' things whenever we are in a toy department. However, as I said before, he likse to go into Landen's room and play with his things. Blake loves movies! He even made a fort in our guest room a few months ago, and place a tiny t.v. under a trundle bed, with a pad and pillows all set up for comfort for watching videos. He is a deep thinker, and can grasp more mature movies like Forrest Gump, and even understood the musical Les Miserable when our High School performed that earlier this year. He asks lots of questions, especially about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love you Blakester!!!
